a WORLD-famous climber from Belper is to launch a fascinating book in the town about a new record he has set.
Nigel Vardy set a record in 2007 after becoming the first British climber to scale the tallest peaks on the world’s seven largest islands.
He subsequently wrote a book about his exploits and he will give ‘Seven Peaks — Seven Islands’ its premiere launch at a lecture in Belper on Saturday, April 2, at 7pm.
Nigel, who describes himself as a mountaineer, engineer, motivational speaker, author and beer drinker, will be speaking at Hazelwood Village hall, Hazelwood. Tickets for the event cost £4 and can be bought from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance shop on King Street in Belper.
