Codnor history day

The Codnor and district local history and heritage day is to be held on Saturday June 1 from 10am to 4pm at Peverel House, Mill Lane, Codnor.

Admission is free and local groups will be displaying photographs and exhibits from the surrounding district together with details of local conservation projects that you could be involved with.

Have you got any old photographs of Codnor and district? Why not bring them along?

There will also be two new history books on sale. ‘Monument to an Iron Master’ by Stuart Saint - a book documenting the life of William Jessop the younger and the monument built in his memory - and ‘Down in Dingyshire’ by Rev. W. F. Littlewood transcribed and reprinted by Jacksdale Area Culture and Heritage - a book describing Rev. Littlewood’s observations of the village and people of Ironville during the 1870s.
