Council’s no to takeaway

proposals for a new takeaway in Belper have been refused because of fears over noise and smells.

Amber Valley Borough Council threw out the plans for the takeaway on Gregorys Way in the town.

Scott Morgan applied for permission for the business.

He reasoned that there was already another takeaway in the area, as well as a Tesco Express store and other shops.

But the council was fearful of any noise or smell the potential takeaway could create.

In rejecting the proposal, the authority said that the takeaway would be close to a residential area, could cause a nuisance, and that the sale of takeaway food during ‘unsociable hours’ was a concern.
