Campaign to cut violence

A CAMPAIGN to reduce domestic violence is being launched in Derbyshire.

The county police force is sending a DVD to councils and health services to be shown in public areas such as GPs’ surgeries and police inquiry offices.

Detective Inspector Hayley Barnett said: “It is really important that victims of domestic abuse realise that there is help for them and that police and other partner agencies are supportive.

“This DVD also appeals to friends and family of victims of this type of crime to speak out and report the abuse.”

The force has previously announced plans to launch a campaign aimed at preventing a rise in domestic violence during Euro 2013, which starts in June.

The strategy was announced after figures showed a rise in domestic attacks during the last World Cup.
