Candidate drops out of election for police post

A candidate vying to become the first Derbyshire Police Commissioner has pulled out of the election.

Retired colonel Charles Swabey has ended his fight for the post this week, leaving four people going to the polls on November 15.

They are Conservative Simon Spencer, independent Rod Hutton, David Gale for the UK Independence Party and Alan Charles, who is standing for Labour.

A revised Statement of Persons Nominated, is being displayed on public notice boards and on council web sites. Voters will be able to look up their local polling station on a new polling station lookup facility at www.ambervalley.gov.uk
