Car crash man is spared jail term

A man took a friend’s car while she slept, crashing it into three parked vehicles and causing £1,125 damage on a Holbrook street, a court has heard.

Rueful Theodore Parkin was ordered to pay the bill and was banned from driving for a year after the incident on Makeney Road on April 22.

A 12-week prison sentence, suspended for a year, was also imposed on Parkin, 23, of Highwood Avenue, Belper.

He must do 220 hours unpaid work and obey a curfew for three month after admitting aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop, failing to report it and driving without insurance or a licence.
