TWO Belper men were caught red-handed as they stole diesel from a local smallholding.
Ashley Proctor, 29, and Barry Andrews, 46, of Park Road, both in Belper, admitted theft of £72 worth of red diesel from Duncan Langton.
Officers in an unmarked police car were parked in John O’Gaunts Way at 11.12pm on May 22 when they saw a Land-Rover pull up nearby.
Two men got out of the vehicle and returned five minutes later and removed containers from it, Chesterfield magistrates were told.
Proctor and Andrews were each fined £90, with £85 costs, and magistrates ordered that a pair of mole grips be forfeited.
