POLICE have issued a fresh appeal for information about a large fire which gutted a derelict building at the former Thorntons factory in Belper after their investigation has so far drew a blank.
The blaze, which is thought to have been started by arsonists, engulfed the first floor office block on April 15. Officers found evidence of several small fires in the building and said they believed it had been started by youngsters as a prank, but were not ruling out a malicious adult.
However, no-one has been arrested in connection with the crime so far and officers say they are struggling to find out the identity of the arsonists because of a lack of CCTV at the affected building.
A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “It may have to go down as an undetected crime.”
