Pupils at a primary school in Belper have been learning all about stranger danger and the work of their local police in the town this week.
PC Dave Baggott, of the town’s Safer Neighbourhood policing team, spoke to around 60 pupils at St John’s CE Primary School, on Laund Nook during a visit there.
The youngsters were also given fluorescent and high-visibility items to help ensure they are seen by drivers.
PC Baggott said after meeting the pupils at the school: “We spoke to the youngsters about the dangers of talking to or wandering off with strangers, as well as the work we do as police officers.
“It gives us an opportunity to help youngsters stay safe and encourages youngsters to have a positive relationship with the police.”
