A DELI in Belper has proved it has the recipe for success after being nominated for a top award – as well as being featured in a new book by TV chef James Martin.

Fresh Basil in Strutt Street is named as a supplier in Masterclass, the new cookbook by former Ready Steady Cook regular Martin, who lives in North Yorkshire.

The mention is the latest in a series of plaudits for owner Wendy Moore and her 20 staff - who have also been put forward by customers for a national Olive Et Al award alongside the likes of Harrods and Selfridges.

“Apart from a butcher in Derby, we are the only suppler listed in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire area in the book, which is fantastic,” Mrs Moore said.

“We are really hoping now that people will help vote for us for the Olive award. We are up against deli’s in London with big city’s behind them and we need our community to get behind us. It would be really good for the town.”

Nominations for Deli of the Year 2012 can be made at www.olivesetal.co.uk and the winner will be announced at the Great Taste Awards in London in September 2012.
