The team at the King Street store were joined by stormtroopers from the Star Wars film franchise.

Another special guest during Saturday’s event was the store’s very first customer, Leon Brown.

He was just four years old when he had the first appointment at the brand new opticians back in 2006.

Leon, now aged 14, has since had an eye examination at Specsavers every two years and to say thank you, staff presented him with a special gift.

Andy McBride, store director, said: “Ten years is a significant milestone so we thought it was only right to recognise it.

“A number of the team, including me, have been here since the beginning so have seen the store change and develop over the years.

“A lot of our customers have also been with us since the start which is a testament to the emphasis we place on customer service.”
