Diamond site idea

A GO-ahead group from Milford wants to turn an eyesore piece of land into a flowerbed to celebrate the Queen’s diamond jubilee.

The Milford and Makeney Committee wants Blooming Milford to create a display border on a piece of neglected land behind a red telephone box on the A6.

To do this, a section of fence would need to be moved back from the pavement.

Amber Valley Borough Council has been approached about the issue.

A spokesman for Blooming Milford said: “Milford is within a World Heritage Site, with an ability to attract tourists.

“The adjustment of the fence line would enable a rather dull length of the A6 to be substantially improved at no great cost, with the bonus that the listed phone box would become far more prominent.”

The matter was set to be discussed at a meeting of Blooming Milford last night, January 24.
