Dreaming of a greener Christmas

Composting used Christmas trees, recycling cards and taking electrical items to furniture schemes are all ideas being suggested by Derbyshire County Council to keep the county green this Christmas.

Cabinet member for technology and recycling Cllr John Allsop said: “We all generate a lot more rubbish at Christmas – whether it’s uneaten food going into the bin or getting through more bottles, jars, tins and cardboard packaging. Making small changes to how we shop, making sure we plan ahead and being aware of all our recycling options can help reduce the amount we send to landfill.”
