CHILDREN at a Belper nursery celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes.

Youngsters at Alton Manor Day Nursery, in Gregorys Way, were joined by their families as they prepared and ate a hearty feast of pancakes complete with toppings such as banana, orange, chocolate, raisins and a selection of sauces.

Nursery manager Kirstie Rock said: “The children absolutely loved making the pancakes.

“They thought it was brilliant choosing from all the different toppings to decorate them.”

Karen Clark, mum of two-year-old nursery member Grace Clark, said: “The staff at Alton Manor always plan such lovely events for the children and pancake day was no exception.

“They loved being involved, from buying the ingredients to mixing the batter and finally the decorating and eating.

“Top marks to the staff for their cooking skills!”
