A 17-YEAR-old student from Smalley has been picked to represent England in the Royal Life Saving Society’s (RLSS) Commonwealth championships in South Africa.
Emily Allsop described the accolade as an “amazing opportunity” and “almost beyond belief”.
The Ockbrook School student will be part of a ten-strong squad of life-savers taking part in the event in Durban at the end of September.
The event will see competitors taking part in a variety of events, such as obstacle relay, mannequin carry, super lifesaver and obstacle swim.
In 2009, Emily won the silver award in the UK National Lifesaving Championships. She had qualified for the championships for several years running.
