A DEMENTIA awareness day has been held at Spencer Grove Care Home in Belper.
Administration manager Samantha De-Boltz said: “The purpose was to give information to the relatives of residents and members of the public.
“Dementia is a complex topic and something that’s difficult to talk about.
“We had one lady who came in who because she was worried about her husband. That was encouraging for us. Sally Plumber, from the Derby branch of the Alzheimer’s Society, delivered a short talk. We used short seminars to give the information in a more informal and accessible way.”
Around 30 people attended the awareness say - along with the care home support team from Babington Hospital - which also included a high tea. The care home staff are hoping to have a similar event on the subject of strokes at the end of November.
