A nine-year old Kilburn girl has raised £40 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) after losing her granddad to a heart attack.

Katie Calladine, took part in a onemile skipathon after granddad Keith died last year aged just 67.

An active and fit girl, she completed the challenge in just 30 minutes.

She said: “I wanted to help other people and maybe they won’t lose their granddads like I did if enough money is raised for the charity. ”

Kerry, Katie’s mum, added: “I know Keith would be so proud, just as we are.
“I urge the people of Derbyshire to do something to help the BHF, no matter how big or small – every penny helps.”
