THE funeral of farmer Harold Hitchcock, 64, who died after falling into a machine in Belper, has taken place. Mr Hitchcock died after falling into machinery used to mix feed for cattle at Slades Farm, in Whitewells Lane, on January 3.
His funeral was held on Saturday, January 21, at Christ Church in Bridge Street, Belper. Afterwards there was a gathering at Makeney Hall, in Milford.
The devastated family told how the popular and well known grandad was cutting string on a bale of straw when he fell into the machinery.
He had conbined working on the farm with driving cattle around. He had been due to retire to his farm, his family said.
He leaves wife Carol, 58, and three children. The couple had been married for 31 years.
