Farmers urged to make sure they do not plough up footpaths

FARMERS preparing to plough their fields are being reminded to keep public rights of way clear in a newly revised leaflet.

It contains information from Derbyshire County Council on what the law says about ploughing, cropping and good practice is being sent to farmers across the county. Cabinet member for highways and transport Cllr Simon Spencer said: “Farmers have a very important task ahead of them at this time of year and we want it to run smoothly, with minimal disruption to the public using footpaths and bridleways. By sending out this leaflet, we’re making sure farmers know exactly what their responsibilities are. For more information call 08456 058 058 or email esprow@derbyshire.gov.uk.
