A FOOTPATH in Belper could be closed off until April while a new road is built to a cemetery.
The path runs from Crich Lane to Cemetery Road, with the closure needed, say officials, so the work can be carried out safely.
The new road is for an extension that has been added to Belper Cemetery.
Derbyshire County Council said that the stretch of path would be re-opened as soon as possible.
The council added that it was unable to provide an alternative for walkers during the disruption.
Ian Stephenson, environmental services director, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience while work takes place.”
The council added that the work on the new road is expected to be completed by April at the latest.
