Simon Elmore, one of the organisers, said: “The reunion went really well and everyone enjoyed the evening. It was great to see so many old faces.

“We had a DJ, photo booth and also laid on a buffet - and all it cost was £5 a head.”

Local businesses offered their support, with Emma’s Cakes & Sugarcraft of Ripley donating a cake, and The Co-operative Food store on Whitemoor Lane, Belper, donating £30 worth of food.

Over £200 was raised from donations and the proceeds of a raffle draw, for Voluntary Independent Renal Support (VIRS), a group for patients, family and friends living with kidney issues. A charity bucket collection also supported Glenfield Hospital.

Simon, who is an ambassador for VIRS, added: “Everyone was so generous and it was great to see so much support.”

He added his thanks to Linda Homar, Kevin Webb, Kelly Walters, Nicola Swift and Michelle Eland, who all helped to organise the reunion.
