Forum’s scale model of Belper’s future

People in Belper now have a new way of exploring the future of their town – through a scale model of the town centre.

The Meadows Edge Concept Model, built by Robin Peirce of local firm Poco Design, shows the town in miniature from the Triangle to Morrisons roundabout, and from the river to the railway. Commissioned by Belper Civic Forum, planned with the Forum’s members and funded with grant aid from the Big Lottery and Belper Rotary, the model particularly focuses on the Meadows Edge area, part s of which are likely to be redeveloped in the next few years. The model is particularly useful, as it has sections which can be lifted out allowing people to build their own alternative vision, and its scaled contours mean that the impact of buildings at various heights can be tested.
