four young children have been killed in an horrific house fire in Hulland Ward.

The brothers and sisters died in the blaze at the home on Highfield Road, which started at about 11.30pm on Monday, January 24.

Their 45-year-old mum escaped from the property.

The family were named locally as mum Rachael Henson and children as Tommy, nine, Alisha, six, Rocco, four, and Apollonia, two.

Neighbours have described the bravery of people who tried to get into the house and save the children.

They also told of the devastating impact of the fire, which Gavin Tomlinson, of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has called “severe”. Between 20 and 25 firefighters tackled the flames.
