John Flamsteed Community School is celebrating after its students achieved the best ever GCSE results.

Pupils at the Denby secondary excelled in English and maths, with 60% achieving A*-C including English and Maths.

Seventy per cent achieved A*-C in English Language and 75 per cent achieved A*-C in mathematics.

Headteacher Lisa Walton has praised the pupils for their results and also paid tribute to the school’s staff for their contribution.

She said: “I am delighted to report that John Flamsteed Community School students have achieved the School’s best ever A*-C GCSE results this year, including mathematics and English.

“This is testament to our students’ hard work, ambition and resilience throughout their final year with us.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the teachers at the school who have demonstrated tremendous capacity and professionalism this year to enable our students to achieve so well.”
