dance prodigies who dream of being on the big stage or TV can now sign up to a full-time dancing course in Belper.
The Vanessa Millar School of Dancing, which is based on Derwent Street, is starting the three-year course in September.
It will offer a variety of different techniques and is open to anyone with a dancing and singing background who is aged 16 or over.
There can be no more than 20 students on the course.
Vanessa, who has run the dancing school for the last eight years, said: “We want people to audition, but they have got to have some dancing and singing background.
“The course will aim to further their dance and musical theatre.
“Students will be learning all different techniques and it will help them go off and audition for big stage productions or the TV.
“I have had one student from the school appear in the film This is England.”
The school is dedicated to teaching to the highest grades in ballet, tap, modern, acro, and national dance, she said.
It follows the London-based Imperial Society of Teachers’ of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus and also has classes for musical theatre, singing, zumba and zumbatomic for kids, drama/acting, street jazz, contemporary, and tea dance.
If you are interested in auditioning for the course contact 01773 823 309.
The school also welcomes dancers of all ages and abilities to its classes, which are between 3.45pm and 8pm, Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays between 9.15am and 5pm.
Dancers from the school also put their talents to good use when they raised £500 for the NSPCC.
They put on a show at Nottingham Playhouse that included a variety of dancing styles and a bumper raffle.
Vanessa said: “We raised money for the NSPCC because it is for children and we have children in the school. I have always done my annual show for the NSPCC.
“I invite dancers of all ages and abilities. Whether it is for exam work, competitions, or simply for fitness and fun you will be most welcome.”
