four kind colleagues from Belper have raised £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) following a month of growing beards.

Dean Hodgkinson, 43, of Duncan Close, Belper, wanted to raise funds for the BHF after his brother, Darran Hodgkinson, 44, died of a heart attack last March.

He encouraged three colleagues, Craig Watson, Darren Abbott and Rizwan Ramzan, to join in the fundraising challenge during November, and The Beard Team was formed.

Their employer, Lubrizol, based in Hazelwood near Belper, also donated £500.

Dean said: “I felt I needed to do something in memory of my brother for the BHF to help with research in the future. I’ve lost a brother and a dear friend, who also leaves behind a wife and two daughters.”
