HAPPY couples in Belper who got engaged over the Christmas and New Year period are invited to Derbyshire’s first wedding fair of 2012 this weekend.
Shottle Hall, on White Lane, Shottle, near Belper, has received so many enquiries from newly-engaged couples that it has broken with tradition and will stage a wedding fair in January.
The family-run venue will stage the event on Sunday, January 15, between 11am and 4pm.
Marketing manager James Davis said: “January and February are always busy months within the weddings industry, but we have been particularly surprised at how many enquiries we have had since Christmas.
“We normally leave our open days and wedding fairs until later in the year.
“But we have decided to throw open our doors earlier this year and believe we are staging Derbyshire’s first wedding fair of the year.”
Among the suppliers exhibiting at Sunday’s event is florist The Greenery, based on Town Street, Duffield.
Owner Louise Endsor said: “I don’t know what happened this Christmas but since we re-opened for business the phone hasn’t stopped ringing.
“We’ve been booking two or three consultations every day since we re-opened, it’s never been as busy as this at this time of year.
“We’ve all be joking that there must have been a sale on engagement rings before Christmas!
“We are really looking forward to the event at Shottle Hall on Sunday, and the timing couldn’t be better for us.”
