GOBSMACKED Hannah Thornley has been crowned the winner of the News’ Super Server Award 2010.
Popular Hannah, who runs The Gourmet Wagon on the car park of Belper’s East Mill, admitted she was shocked to have scooped top prize, but said she was really touched.
Her popularity is evident because she was the clear winner, beating stiff opposition, in the competition to find the top shop assistant and server in Belper.
The 21-year-old accrued almost four times the number of votes as joint runners-up Jean and Ian Tomes, of A Tomes, Bridge Street, and Laura Wilkinson, who works at Birds on King Street.
Hannah said: “It has really surprised me and I am a bit gobsmacked.
“I really didn’t think I would win because there were a lot of good entrants.
“I am honestly a bit speechless, but I am really touched.”
Hannah, who lives in Belper, took over the business 18 months ago and runs it with her boyfriend Rob. Before that she worked there for three years.
“I really enjoy it,” said Hannah. “I love talking to people. I am a right gossiper!”
One of Hannah’s customers, Peter Blount, said: “She deserves it. She has a smile on her face and is always pleasant. The food is lovely.”
