A CARE home in Holbrook now has 12 plush new bedrooms thanks to a £800,000 extension.

The new build at Holbrook Hall care home, on Makeney Road, has been welcomed by staff and residents alike.

Care home manager Barbara Mee, who has worked there for as long as the home has been there — 26 years — said: “We are very pleased with it. It is lovely.

“The rooms are really, really nice.”

The home, which employs 37 staff members, now has 37 single-bed rooms. The new rooms, plus 17 of the existing ones, are en-suite.

Mrs Mee added: “The extension has created new employment for the community and extra care within the community for people that need it. It is a welcome addition.”

The extension was built by Belper firm Derwent Valley Construction and designed by Swanwick-based Darren Mayner Architecture.
