Outbreak is traced to hospital visitor

Health bosses have revealed that a ward at Babington Hospital was closed at the end of November, following an outbreak of winter vomiting bug, Norovirus.

The Belper News told last week how staff were urging visitors who show symptoms to stay away.

Now, a spokesman for the hospital has confirmed that nine patients were affected by a ten day outbreak. The ward was re-opened to the public on November 23.

The infections were traced to having been brought into hospital by a visitor who was unwell.
