A VIDEO featuring top winter tips from people living in Derbyshire is being launched by NHS Derbyshire County to help others stay well during cold winters.
The video has been released to coincide with the publication of the primary care trust’s own Top Ten Tips for Winter Guide.
Now available on YouTube, Facebook and other social media sites, the two-minute video brings to life key tips on keeping warm and well this winter from local characters including market traders, football fans and business owners.
Cold weather tips and winter remedies offered by generations of young, old and larger-than-life figures range from having the flu jab, eating porridge and cider vinegar and honey, to joining a five-a-side football team, keeping feet warm and wearing thermal undies.
A podcast of the video, which is filmed in and around Derbyshire, will also be available so that people can download and listen to the tips on their iPods.
Dr Bruce Laurence, acting director of public health for NHS Derbyshire, said: “Good, honest straightforward advice about staying warm and well during the cold season can help everyone lead longer, more fulfilling lives.
“It’s important that they we all stay Winterwise and this video shares the experiences of everyday people that we can all relate to in a fun and interesting way. We hope that people will enjoy the video and then take a look at our own Top Ten Winter Tips available at http://www.derbycitypct.nhs.uk/staying-healthy/getting-ready-for-winter/.”
