Heart start plea

AMBULANCE chiefs are urging organisations and community groups in Belper to tell them if they own life saving heart start machines.

East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) is helping to map the location and availability of defibrillators in Derbyshire.

Currently the service has the location of 15 of the machines within the county.

Pete Winson, EMAS’ community defibrillator officer, said: “We need to know so that if we receive a 999 call from the area, we can tell the caller there is a defibrillator nearby and treatment can begin.”
