Hunt for next chairman

THE Friends of Babington Hospital group in Belper is searching for a new chairman.

Current chairman Ray Asher announced his retirement from the post last month. He will step down in January after 20 years in the role.

The Friends, formed in October 1956, are volunteers who raise funds to provide services and equipment for the hospital by running a trolley shop, holding an annual garden party and car boot sales.

Since 1992 the group has raised more than £200,000 to provide equipment for the wards, a new conservatory, and televisions for the patients.

To be considered for the chairmanship write to the Friends of Babington Hospital, Derby Road, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 1WH.
