Belper Memorial Gardens is the subject of this week’s picture. It was founded by George Herbert Strutt in 1922 to commemorate those who had died in World War One in the former gardens of Green Hall Preparatory School for Boys – a top boarding school which educated the sons of gentlemen.

The image was captured by our photographer Brian Eyre, who is often out and about in the town taking shots of beautiful Belper. We love to see your pictures of the area too – send them by email to editor@belpernews.co.uk or drop them off at our community postbox at the News Corner, King Street, Belper, which is opposite the Market Place.
