An inquest has been told how a Holbrook woman, her young son and her mentally-ill ex-boyfriend were found stabbed to death.
Rachael Slack was found dead along with former partner Andrew Cairns and the estranged couple’s 23-month-old son, Auden at her home in Well Yard in the village.
Now, coroner Robert Hunter and a jury sitting at Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner’s Court has begun hearing evidence into the three deaths as part of a hearing due to last four weeks.
Outlining the case, Dr Hunter said that a neighbour heard screaming coming from Miss Slack’s home at around 11am on June 2, 2010.
He said: “The neighbour went to investigate and through the window she saw the head and shoulders of Miss Slack who screamed at her to call the police.
“When the police arrived they found all doors and windows locked. Inside they found the bodies of Auden, Miss Slack and Mr Cairns all apparently deceased. All had multiple stab wounds and there was a knife in Mr Cairns lap.
“It was believed that a faint pulse was detected in Auden so resuscitation was commenced and he was conveyed to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival.”
