UP TO a hundred people went along to a jobs fair with a difference in Belper.
Local businessman Ray Constable, who runs an oven cleaning firm, hired the Cottage Project, on Chapel Street.
The fair was for local employers and prospective employees. Seventy-six jobs were on offer.
Ray said: “All of our ten job providers turned up and all had some interest, except my oven cleaning franchise.
“Between fifty and a hundred job seekers turned up. I took the liberty of having details of all local jobs available and we shared these with attendees. I saw a dozen application forms being filled in, and feedback from the job providers was good. We all enjoyed the evening. It was a success.”
He staged the event because he had heard complaints from small businesses about difficulties finding good staff.
