A decision is set to be made later this month on plans to replace a police office in Kilburn with two flats.

Developers want to transform the current site on Bown Close from its original use as a ground floor office, police office and community room.

Property developers Future Homescape Ltd intend to alter the current building into two flats and proposals will go to Amber Valley Borough Council later this month.

Documents on the planning application suggest that: “The police office is currently in use and will be vacated in September 2015 when the alteration works are proposed to commence.”

A decision is anticipated on June 30 under delegated powers.

Derbyshire police have confirmed that the current office will indeed close and that officers will be moved to the Belper base.

Amber Valley section Inspector Pat Howitt said: “The officers will be moved to the Belper police office at Babbington Hospital but will continue to police and patrol the beat in Kilburn as they have always done. It will be business as usual.”

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “Our lease of the building in Bown Close expires in September and the officers based there will be relocated.”
