ROYAL Mail bosses were called out to inspect a letterbox after claims it had not been emptied for days.
Postal chiefs said the letterbox on Parkside, in Belper, was emptied on time but that a large letter had become jammed near the top and made it appear full.
Roger Morgan, of The Bone Mill, could not get his post into the box and reported the matter.
He said: “It is a poor state of affairs. I could have taken out a lot of other people’s mail.”
A spokeswoman for Royal Mail said: “Our local collections manager went out to inspect the box and found a large letter jammed further up the neck of the box. This caused a blockage resulting in the overflow. We would like to thank Mr Morgan for alerting us to this.”
