AMBER Valley Borough Council agreed to clean up this mess (pictured, right) after The News alerted the authority to the eyesore.

Our photographer Brian Eyre was in town on another job when he spotted the litter on a path off Derwent Street in Belper. The path, which is at the bottom of Derwent Street, leads to a popular skatepark.

A spokesman for the borough council said: “Thank you for making us aware of the problem. It is horrible.

“We are going to clear the site as soon as we can.”

The litter was due to be cleared by the council this week, said the spokesman. The land is not owned by the council, he said.
