A Belper solicitors is supporting Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People by taking part in its Make a Will Month.

Throughout May, solicitors in Derbyshire will provide a discounted advice service on how to leave a gift which will help the hospice to provide care to children and young people with life-limited and terminal illnesses.

Ellis-Fermor & Negus, in Bridge Street, has pledged its support to the scheme, which will offer more than 50 per cent discount on single simple Wills and Will amendments throughout May. In recognition of the offer, Rainbows hopes that people may wish to leave a gift to the charity when writing their Will.

Joanne Fletcher, Wills and Probate Clerk at Ellis-Fermor & Negus, said: “Many of us don’t like to think about making a Will, but it is very important to do so. Even if you already have a Will, it is imperative to make sure it is up to date. A valid Will allows you to provide for your chosen beneficiaries and determine how your estate is dealt with. It also makes it much easier for loved ones left behind at what can be a distressing time.

“By taking part in Rainbows’ Make a Will Month, you are ensuring a lasting legacy is left to children and young people in the East Midlands who rely on Rainbows. We are delighted to be working with Rainbows as part of Make a Will Month and we hope that people will take advantage of the great offer.”

Last year the care of one in five children at Rainbows was funded through gifts in Wills. If every Rainbows supporter left £100 in their Will, it would add up to more than £4.5million, enough to run the hospice for a whole year.

Patricia Brookes, director of fundraising at Rainbows: “We are really pleased to have the continued support from Ellis-Fermor & Negus and thank them for their kind gesture. By making a Will and leaving a donation to Rainbows, you will help us to run our hospice which provides such a vital service to so many children and their families in the East Midlands.”
