A Belper woman has been jailed for 24 weeks after pleading guilty to a spate of thefts.

Jodie Eley, 24, of Chestnut Avenue,admitted to stealing chocolates and Champagne from Lidl, Ripley ; three bottles of alcohol from Asda, Langley Mill; four bottles of alcohol from Asda, Langley Mill; four packs of steak from Co-op, Langley Mill; spirits worth £96 from Co-op, Belper; meat from Marks & Spencer, Derby and meat from Sainsburys, Derby.

The thefts all took place between March 16 and June 13 this year.

JPs sitting at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court took into consideration that Eley had a long list of previous convictions when imposing their sentence.

Eley had previously been given a chance with a deferred sentence.
