Belper Mill pictures for hospital
PICTURES of Belper's famous mill have been brought in to Babington Hospital in town to brighten the walls for patients.
Four specially commissioned photographs now adorn the walls of the day unit at the Derby Road hospital after being officially unveiled by Belper Mayor Cllr Norman Bull last month.
The original artworks, which were made using photographs and mirror effects, were designed by two photography graduates from Manchester Metropolitan University.
Patients also had input into the design and subject, which was chosen because of the close links many patients have with the iconic building.
The project, which cost around 3,000 was part of the Arts for Health initiative being run by Derbyshire County PCT.
Gillian Burrows, manager of the day unit, said: "These photographs make such a big difference to patients.
The day unit reception area looks really smart and modern now, and it's great to think people will be able to come along and share their experiences of the mill while waiting to see a nurse or therapist."
