Boiler scheme could warm up 50 homes in Amber Valley

Up to 50 homes in Amber Valley could receive free new heating as part of a council scheme.

The borough council has £150,000 to spend on replacement of ‘G’ rated boilers, repairs of boilers or installation of new heating systems.

This funding is from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, to help reduce fuel poverty and boost energy efficiency in regions across Great Britain.

The authority has been given until March 31 to spend the cash and is urging people interested in benefiting from the scheme to get in touch.

Councillor Norman Bull Cabinet Member for Decent and Affordable Places to Live said “This is a wonderful opportunity to help some of our owner occupiers who have a small income and do not have more than £16,000 savings. The cost of heating is increasing as energy prices rise, and it is important that we do as much as we canto help people stay warm by helping them to have efficient forms of heating.

“We have received 20 enquiries so far, but we are really keen to make sure that eligible householders do not miss out.”

Anyone interested in the scheme should contact Joanne Walker on 01773 841332 or joanne.walker@ambervalley.gov.uk to discuss eligibility.
