A Belper-based record label is raising funds for a heart charity by releasing a Christmas single.
Sound-hub, on King Street, has worked with eight artists including two Belper bands to re-record the Wham classic ‘Last Christmas’.
The track and music video are available as a free download from.sound-hub.com with a suggested donation to The British Heart Foundation of at least £1.
Last year’s Sound-Hub charity Christmas single ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ raised more than £1,000 for Help For Homeless and organisers are hoping to improve on that total with this year’s offering.
Tom Carter, owner of Sound Hub, said: “We’re hoping that because of the Belper connection and the fact we are based in Belper that a lot of people from the town buy the song. We’re hoping to raise lots of money for this fantastic charity and the good work they do throughout the area.
“It’s easy to download the single from our website and give to the BHF in the process.”
Featured on the record are Belper band Jasper in the Company of Others, fronted by Drop Inn volunteer Shane ‘Jasper’ Husbands and indie band Whitemoor.
Also appearing are: I Set The Sea on Fire, James Warner Prophecies, Joesph Hicklin, Three Minute Heist, Office Party and These Mortal Cities.
Belper Sound Hub opened in December 2009 to the rear of Hacketts Bar in an old corn mill to help promote new artists in the town and the wider area and claims to be the fastest growing record label in the UK.
