Crews put out large scrap blaze

Alfreton firefighters battled a large blaze involving ten scrapped cars.

The fire was discovered on Alexander Terrace, Pinxton, about 9.30pm, on Wednesday, April 9.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said there were ten scrap cars involved in the incident and no one was injured.

Firefighters armed with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets extinguished the blaze and made the area safe by 10.15pm.

Derbyshire Constabulary was also alerted.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the blaze should call police on 101.
