Crime prevention kits issued at Belper ‘Lock-up’ event

More than 300 shoppers in Belper picked up special crime prevention kits and advice on safety and security last week.

They were given out as part of a special ‘Lock up’ event, organised by the Amber Valley Community Safety Partnership on Wednesday, December 11 at the pedestrian area on King Street.

Advice and information, along home security packs, purse chains and bells were offered to residents to help them stay safe and secure in the run up to Christmas.There was also a chance for people to speak to their local Safer Neighbourhood policing team, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire Trading Standards and Neighbourhood Watch.

Chris Short, cabinet lead on Community Safety for Amber Valley Borough Council, said: “We’re pleased to be able to bring together the many different agencies which can help local residents to stay safe and secure.”
