Derbyshire Dales district council have launched a bid to help raise activity levels in the area through a cycle initiative.

People of all ages and abilities have been invited to join in.

The cycles are between 10am and 11.30am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at three different locations across the county.

On Mondays (women only) and Wednesdays riders can meet at Hassop station. On Tuesdays, the starting point is the Tissington Trail at Ashbourne Cycle Hire and on Thursdays the location is Carsington Water.

Chairman of Derbsyhire Dales District Council’s Communities Committee, Councillor Jennifer Bower said that the rides provide a social and leisurely option for people wanting to increase activity levels.

She added: “The District Council works hard to preserve it’s official status as one of the healthiest places to live in the whole of England.”

Small children are welcome and and it is just £6 to hire an adult bike and free to use your own. Booking is not essential.
