Death of Mr Lake

A MAN who ran a builders’ merchants that has a base in Belper has died at the age of 81.

John W.Lake ran Lakes Builders’ Merchants for almost 50 years.

He took over at the helm of the family business Midland Contractors Supply Co in 1953. The firm was subsequently incorporated as a limited company and called E&JW Lake Ltd. Aside from Goods Road, Belper, and two established branches in Newhall and Derby, Lakes also has bases in Alfreton, Ashbourne and Long Eaton.

Mr Lake, who retired in 2002, is survived by wife Anne, son John, daughter-in-law Emma and grandchildren Thomas, Charlie and Freddie.
