Duffield cafe up at auction

A cafe bistro in Duffield is set to go under the hammer next month, with auctioneers expecting it to fetch more than £175,000.

Godfreys, in Town Street, is being sold by Graham Penny Auctions during a sale in Derby on April 10.

Established in 1999, current owner of the eatery Gregory Broadbent opened a second cafe in his hometown of Belper on Gregory’s Way in January.

Now, the freehold on his Duffield period property is being offered for sale including the successful café bistro business.

Graham Penny, auctioneer at Graham Penny Auctions, said the sale represented “a rare opportunity to acquire a fully licensed and lucrative bistro business in an attractive village centre premises”.

He added: “This is a highly popular restaurant in an equally highly popular location and offers a great investment opportunity for the seasoned busines
person.

“The café bistro is extremely well established and is being sold so the owners can focus on other business ventures. I believe there is significant potential for further development at the property for the right purchasers.”

The cafe is arranged over two levels with a courtyard to the rear of the building and a “substantial “ forecourt for external seating.

It is currently successfully trading from 9am to 4.30pm and 6pm until 10pm six days a week and 10am until 2.30pm on Sundays.

Eighty-eight percent of people submitting comments on popular online review site www.tripadvisor.co.uk said they would recommend the cafe.

Potential buyers will be able to view the legal pack for Godfreys no later than seven days prior to the auction - which takes place at 11.30am on Thursday, April 10, at The Pedigree Suite, Derby County FC, iPro Stadium in Derby.
