The JE James and Derbyshire Times’ Flagg Cycle Challenge is starting to attract charity riders and many others are being urged to get on board to support Chesterfield’s Ashgate Hospice.
The popular hospice charity ride will start at Ashgate Hospice, on Ashgate Road, from 9am, on Sunday, July 27, and returns after completing a route around the beautiful Peak District countryside.
All participants will be treated to the specially planned and marshalled route with fantastic landmarks and views and riders can choose to take on a 55 or 25 mile challenge.
The popular 55 mile route will take riders from Old Brampton into the beautiful Peak District where they will experience great views from the top of Flagg, Birchover, Rowsley and the Chatsworth Estate to name but a few.
The 25 mile route will go from the hospice via Cutthorpe, down to Baslow, up to Curbar and back down to Ashford-in-the-Water, before returning through Pilsley to Baslow and back along the previous route. It then goes to the hospice via Old Brampton.
Once registered, riders will receive sponsor forms, a map and route plan and a secured entry. There are limited spaces for the third annual Flagg Challenge so people are advised to get registered as soon as possible.
However, riders are also welcome to turn up and enter on the day, snapping up any remaining slots with signing-on for all from 8am.
Following the event there will be a free goody bag, soup-and-a-roll.
Entrants receive sponsor forms and a map. Entry costs £20 and those interested can register via firstname.lastname@example.org, or can contact Emily Evans on (01246) 568801, or Derbyshire Times’ Jon Cooper at email@example.com and on (01246) 504524. Budding volunteer marshals are also urged to call Emily and Jon.
Co-sponsors JE James, of Brimington Road North, Chesterfield, are also selling raffle tickets for a Specialised racing bike.
